Many of the things we read in popular literature about 'critical thinking' include something often called a critical thinking strategy. While these strategies are useful, they are not critical thinking in themselves. Understanding the difference is important because it tells you how the strategy works and what it should do. These strategies are important because you can not use logical terminology or use shorthand notes in casual conversations or articles. Even saying that others are begging for this question does not change someone's mind. It will insult them. In order to be effective in critical reasoning, it is prudent to adopt either strategy.
How do you develop critical thinking? Many literature details strategies and techniques for developing and improving critical thinking skills. Using these various strategies will improve your learning experience and enable participants to participate more in that process. An important first step towards developing critical thinking is to encourage critical thinking and create an environment that supports learning critical thinking. This should be a safe environment that encourages questions, contemplation, and discussion. It is the responsibility of the leader or manager to provide an environment where staff can ask questions and give ideas safely. Several strategies to help develop critical thinking can be found in Table 3. Table 4 lists disabilities and promoters of critical thinking.
