Use of Gasoline

In 2017, Americans used about 143 billion gallons of gasoline (about 391 million gallons per day) and 173 million gallons of gasoline. Gasoline is one of the main fuels consumed in the US, and it is the main product produced by US refineries. Most gasoline sold for automobiles in the US is about 10% by volume of fuel ethanol.

In 2017, gasoline accounted for 59% of the total energy consumption in the transport sector, accounting for 47% of total oil consumption and 18% of total US energy consumption.

Mini-cars (automobiles, sports utility vehicles, small trucks) account for approximately 92% of the total gasoline consumption in the United States.

Compared to gasoline, mixing gasoline, ethanol and gasoline to produce fuel is advantageous in terms of the environment and it can be used for gasoline cars manufactured after the 1980s. Most gasoline cars can use a mixture of gasoline and up to 10% ethanol. It can be used with some regular gas stations in Canada. Some vehicles are specially prepared ethanol mixtures containing up to 85% ethanol and at least 15% gasoline. This E - 85 mixture can not be used with standard gasoline cars, but cars designed to work with high ethanol mixtures can also move if necessary. I use gasoline. Almost all gasoline sold in the U.S. is currently about 10% ethanol by volume. Flexible fuel vehicles can use gasoline with an ethanol content exceeding 10%. The US Environmental Protection Agency decided in October 2010 that E15 (gasoline containing 15% ethanol) can be used for new models and light trucks after 2007. E 85 is a fuel containing 51% to 83% ethanol sold in the Midwest depending on location and season, and can be used only for flexible fuel vehicles.

Ethanol is a renewable fuel made from corn and other plant materials. The use of ethanol is common, in the United States more than 98% of gasoline contains some ethanol. The most common ethanol mixture is E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline). Ethanol can also be used as a flexible fuel vehicle (or flexible fuel) for E 85. It is a blend of advanced ethanol containing 51% to 83% ethanol depending on region and season. E15 is defined as a mixture of ethanol and gasoline from 10.5% to 15% by the Environmental Protection Agency. E15 is an ethanol blend approved for the 2001 model and the new lightweight conventional gasoline car.
