Linguist pathology is a specialized field practiced by clinicians known as linguist pathologists (SLP), sometimes called linguistic pathologists or speech therapists or speech therapists. SLP is regarded as "related health profession" including hearing, optometry, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, physical therapy and so on. Unlike other 'related health professionals', SLP is legally permitted to draw conclusions about certain diseases within the scope of its work. SLP specializes in evaluating, diagnosing and treating communication barriers (language and language barriers), cognitive communication disorders, speech disorders and dysphagia. SLP also plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of autistic spectrum disorders (usually a team of pediatricians and psychologists).
