Ralph and Jacques allegorically represent the political power of opposition forces. Jack is a dictator or fascist and Ralph is the prototype of a democratic leader. The island represents the prototype garden and the shell of the shellfish represents the force. Golding showed gradual decline using British male students and proved that we all had some evil. Each of these symbols helps to prove that there is evil in our hearts.
