"The United Nations can not establish a world order because of fundamentally flawed; in fact, not only will the UN fail to [to achieve its peacekeeping objective], but it will always be tied up ... fail "(Simioni 12). At first glance it seems to be part of the current discussion on the effectiveness of the United Nations as a major arbitrator of the international community. In fact, it represents one of the views expressed in August 1947 immediately after the failure of the first and only negotiations on the establishment of a multinational force under the direct command of the United Nations (DEA 33).
Several times of the success of UN peacekeeping operations, the United Nations will be a very valuable organization. But in reality, the UN peacekeeping operations have a very visible history in several countries, one of which is Kosovo. The crisis in Kosovo began with the structure of the history of competition that persisted the climate of hatred between the Serbs and the Albanian community and caused the occurrence of conflict (Juddah 53). The purpose of this paper is to investigate the peacekeeping activities of the United Nations and to comment on improvements to promote the success of future missions. This article is divided into five parts. The first part is the abstract of the paper, the second part is the UN peacekeeping activity focusing on the introduction and background of the United Nations. In this part we will talk about the beginning of the task of the United Nations, the characteristics of traditional peacekeeping operations, peacekeeping operations after the Cold War, and the status of the United States in UN peacekeeping operations. The third is Peacekeeping Activities in Cambodia. I will learn about the success and failure of UN peacekeeping operations. The fourth East Timor situation will also address the success and failure of UN peacekeeping operations. The last one is the conclusion of evaluating the duties of the two United Nations.
