United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)

Since 1998, SRIYA has focused on the development of poor people and people left behind by society in remote areas of Orissa, India. This organization aims to build peace through creative work in communities and other regions.

Project Description / Background: This project aims to train young people of various religions and ethnic minorities as a cultural ambassador. Later, the youth ambassador will share their experiences and knowledge on peace and cooperation in their communities and will keep in communication with other ambassadors' communities. Through that project, SRIYA's goal is to address the growing threat of violence against religious fundamentalism, caste violence, nassalism, and Dalit, women, minorities.

We hold meetings on best intercultural practices, gender-based violence, human rights abuses and rights of Dalit to enhance the capacity of 130 young leaders to become cultural ambassadors.

In the world characterized by intolerance and division, the Youth Video Festival "PLURAL +" hosted by the United Nations Union of Civilizations Union (UNAOC) and the International Migration Organization (IOM) will give young people around the world the key to their community We will call for response to the challenge. Immigrants, diversity and social inclusion are related. Recognizing that young people are powerful agents of social change, PLURAL + will help young people under 25 years of age express their opinions and creativity. We mainly engage in PLURAL + awards for winners and extensive multi-platform distribution network, including film production resources and support, as well as television broadcasts, film festival screenings, website features and global conference presentations . This allows us to achieve our central mission: to broaden the voice of young people in public discourse on immigration, diversity and social inclusion.

Since 2005, the United Nations Civilization Union (UNAOC) has existed. It began with the initiative of Kofi Annan and was supported by the governments of Spain and Turkey. The New York-based alliance is a global network of states, international organizations, civil society organizations, and the private sector. The main areas of focus are education, youth, immigration, and media. All of these are designed to ease cultural tensions and promote collaboration among communities. As its core vision, UNAOC is trying to promote a culturally sensitive development policy
