Central disease is brain dysfunction. They are often misunderstood and the idea of mental illness begins to be confirmed by brain science and research and how it works.
Many people are suffering from mental illness, but if they tell you directly, you usually know only someone who has a mental illness. Unlike arms fractures and leg fractures, it is difficult to understand what people may encounter and how to help them. Sometimes their spiritual illnesses act in a way they changed them, which may make you uncomfortable. Either consciously or unconsciously, we often handle other people differently when we feel uncomfortable.
When we treat others differently, you may feel ashamed of inaccurate reports and ideas based on dramatic mental illness of movies and television programs. Often this stigma prevents people with psychiatric disorders from being judged, so it will often prevent you from using healthcare or maximizing the potential.
So how can we fight shame? By improving mental health literacy, we can challenge our erroneous information and negative attitudes
NIMH is developing a research program to design science-based interventions to better understand the stigma and reduce stigma of mental illness. In collaboration with SAMHSA, NIMH is also conducting research on the role of media in reducing stigma. CMHS has been experimentally testing information and strategies on anti-discrimination in cooperation with the eight countries. The results of this evaluation will be used to inform further plans and the need for research. NIMH, NIAAA, NIDA, HRSA, AHRQ, and SAMHSA sponsored important meetings to promote clinicians and service agencies' knowledge on treatment based on modern evidence. The conference was called "complexity of coexistence conditions: utilization of service research to improve care for mental, substance use and medical / physical illness".
In order to understand how shame affects the lives of individuals with mental health and drug use conditions, we must consider current definitions, theories and research in that field. The definition and dimension of shame is the foundation of theory and epistemology to understand the three main "levels" of shame (social shame, self-insult, and shame of medical professionals).
So why is it so important to understand mental health shame? Then, it can have a serious impact on the quality of life of people with mental illness. The following is the result of dishonor for mental health that patients, clinicians, service providers, and policy makers suffer from day to day.
