Understanding Plot: "My Brother Sam is Dead" Summary

My brother, Sam is Dead, when Sam Meeker came back from college in 1775 and told the shocked parents to join the Blue Patriots in the fight against British professional troops. As you can imagine, his parents did not want him to be near the front, but his brother Tim thought that his brother became a hero.

The only problem is that Sam must have his own gun to join the rebel army. He tried to steal his father's gun, but he discussed war with his father and eventually ran away. Tim found him the next day and tried to let Sam home from the war, but Sam refused.
