Types of Melanoma

Melanoma is divided into four basic categories. Three of them start from the ground - meaning they only occupy the top layer of the skin - sometimes become invasive; the fourth is invasive from the beginning. Invasive melanoma is more severe as it can penetrate deep into the skin and spread to other parts of the body.

Superficial melanoma is by far the most common type, accounting for about 70% of all cases. This is the most common type of youth. As its name suggests, this melanoma grows for some time along the top layer of the skin and then penetrates further deeply.

This type of melanoma may occur in dark skin people and tends to be more likely to occur than surface diffuse melanoma and malignant tumors as it will be discovered later. Nodular melanoma is usually invasive at initial diagnosis. Malignant tumors are observed when a lump occurs. It is usually black, but occasionally blue, gray, white, brown, yellowish brown, red or skin tone.
