Types of Conflict in Decision Making

Structural contradiction is a positive contradiction that may lead to better team cohesion and decision-making. There are two possibilities of collision occurring during group decision making. These are contradictions of type C, or contradictions between cognitive and type A, emotional contradictions (McWilliams & Williams 2014). Type C's inconsistency contradicts the explanations and opinions of other people. Group members with C type conflicts do not agree with other members based on their past experience and expertise.

The conflict of people in the team's decision means the occurrence of identity-oriented problems, where individual beliefs and ethics play an important role. This type of conflict limits the ability of the team to achieve quality decisions and prevent team members from mutual recognition, thereby reducing the effectiveness of team decisions. (A) limiting cognitive handling of new information, (b) reducing acceptance of ideas from other unwelcome people, (c) reducing tolerance, (d) hostile to each other's intent and action (E) to interfere with effective communication and cooperation within the team, (f) to spend time and effort secured for the implementation of substantive decisions (Baron, 1991, 1997)

Social confrontation is divided into functional type and dysfunction type. Functional conflicts primarily doubt the manager's assumptions in decision making and the conflict of dysfunction is similar to everything that diminishes personal attacks and team efficiency. Because the understanding of the team's knowledge and consensus has increased, functional contradiction is better suited for higher quality decision making. In economics we believe that if we can make our own decisions freely and reasonable, they will act according to rational choice theory. Rational choice theory believes that people always make choices and lead to the best situation.
