Types of brain cancer

According to the National Brain Oncology Association, there are over 120 different types of brain tumors. The most common primary brain tumor is called glioma and is derived from glial (supporting) tissue. Approximately one-third of primary brain tumors and other neurological tumors are derived from glial cells

In addition to tumors in the brain, cancer may develop or spread to other parts of the central nervous system, such as the spinal cord, cylinders, or peripheral nerves. Cancer that develops in the structure of the spinal cord or its surroundings is called spinal cancers. Most tumors in the spine are metastatic tumors that metastasize from the other parts of the body to the spine.

Primary brain tumors are derived from many types of brain tissue (eg, glial cells, astrocytes, and other brain cell types). Metastatic brain tumors are caused by the spread of cancer cells from the body organs to the brain. Data gathered by research scientists shows that people with particular risk factors are more likely to develop brain tumors. Individuals with risk factors such as refineries, jet fuel processors, or chemical substances such as benzene, chemists, antiseptics, rubber industrial workers, etc. have a higher incidence of brain tumors than the general population. Several families have several members with brain tumors, but genetics (genetic characteristics from parents to children) have not been identified as a cause of brain tumors.
