Twelve Years a Slave

Caucasian believes that slavery is suitable for slavery for a long time as Caucasian slavery is civilized into slaves and slaves are content to be detained. But this is not a fact, at least not to those who are actually bound. The slavery narrative is known by the release or escape of slaves. A record of slavery was published in 1853 by Solomon B. Northrop's autobiography "12 years of slavery." Solomon Northrop was born in New York in 1808 as a freelancer (3). His father was a slave until his master died and gave him the freedom of his will (5).

12 Years of Slavery: The story of Solomon Nosap, a New Yorker citizen abducted in Washington in 1841 and rescued in 1853 (known as the 12 years of slavery) is the focus of this course and the slave tale Analyze the information. In this unique literary tradition, men and women who were previously enslaved reported what they experienced and witnessed during slavery. The mission of a slavery story is to transform reader's mind and thought into a cause of anti-slavery by revealing how slavery hurts and distorts the main institution established by the United States.

12 years of slavery is still one of the most important slave stories in the United States. It is a valuable source of information on the daily lives of slaves in central Louisiana, including Christmas celebrations in slave culture. Beginning with the publication of the book, comments were made about familiar but not extreme judgments of the people described in the story. "12-year slavery" was out of print until the turn of the century. However, Louisiana researchers Sue Eakin and Joseph Logsdon spent decades in Northup's lifetime research before 1968, announcing annotated reprints to support many of his arguments. In 1999, the annual celebration called Solomon North Up Day was held at Saratoga Springs and the memoir of North Up was also directed by the television documentary "Godon Parks' TV documentary" Odyssey of Solomons "(1984) Director Steve McQueen's film "12 Years of Slave" (2013) is the foundation.

Steve McQueen 's powerful movie "Twelve Years of Slave" raises important questions about relationships between slavery, history, memory and identity. Although he is a free African American living in New York, he was kidnapped in the south and forced to engage in slavery. This movie was made in the United States but for all countries that have benefited from slavery beyond the Atlantic Ocean it is a worrisome reminder that past historical injustices continue to afflict the present is. Whether people deny it or regard it as an opportunity to reevaluate it, there is no doubt that this film will create a cultural dialogue talking about the relationship between people and this history.
