September 14, 2009 is our orientation. I have been assigned to children of the Grant Street Community Center tutor every Monday and Wednesday. We were late for the first day, so we had only ten minutes. Briana and Janice are in charge of the Grant Street Community Center. They explained the rules and told us we would advise children between 9 and 19 years old. This feeling shocked us all, as we all believe that we will guide our children at elementary and junior high school.
My favorite nonprofit organization is the 826 Simulation Coaching Center called Mighty Writer. Because it is in Philadelphia (my hometown), the possibility of Google's huge funding, the attention of major high-tech companies, or sudden abundant assistance is much lower. Still, it has great children who can flourish when they are encouraged to write some words on their own by participating in the written text from the first counseling center in South Philadelphia It was built in the community.
LADF recently donated $ 10,000 to the Bresee Foundation to support academic guidance for junior high school students and high school students and preparation for university admission. The Bresee Foundation is a multiservice community center that serves 2,500 low-income young people and families every year. Bresee offers counseling from junior high school students to high school students, preparation for university entrance preparation, physical education, gang prevention services for young people aged 10 to 15, and a wide range of support services for families.
