Summary Brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability of children and adults from 1 to 44 years of age. Car crashes, sports injuries, or simply falls usually lead to brain injury and events that cause brain damage often occur in athletics, workplace or at home. There are two different types of brain injuries. Traumatic brain injury and atraumatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury occurs when force acts quickly on an individual's head and neck causing direct physical injury to the brain.
