Trade in Seal Products - The European Commission

I. Introduction Questions about the prosperity of hunting of animals and the use of seal hunting methods have resulted in evasive suffering, fear and other forms of suffering, which imposed restrictions on the European Union (EU) . Transactions of sealed products in the EU market are completely prohibited. This regulation applies to sealed products manufactured in EU and imported products from other countries. This regulation is aimed at preventing seal products from being found in the European market.

HSUS, with its global subsidiary Humane Society International, has been fighting for 10 years to end Canadian seal hunting. At the end of 2013, the World Trade Organization denied the challenges of Canada and Norway and maintained a trade ban on commercial seals for fisheries products in the EU. HSUS provides many resources to individuals, organizations, and civil servants to help wild cats and ultimately reduce those numbers in the community. In December 2012, the Humanities and Social Sciences Policy Research Institute organized a meeting on outdoor cats by summarizing opinions of various stakeholders.

EFTA stands for the European Free Trade Association. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, regional trading agencies and free trade areas. These countries are not part of the EU, but other countries outside Switzerland are part of the European Economic Area.
