Town meeting I went to the town to meet my grandmother Su. Every Thursday my grandmother brings me to the meeting room with her. Later, she always buys ice cream at Carl Ice Cream Shop. I like the time I spent at an ice cream shop, but I dislike meetings. But when I was old enough to make my own decision, I could not say that I do not want to attend my meeting with my grandmother. That's why I went with her. Grandma said, "Gatherings in the town." "This is the only place where our citizens can share our views on the shape of things in this city.
In my own town meeting, there may be 200 to 300 participants representing the town with more than 9,000 citizens. Approximately 3% of our entire town was pushed into the auditorium, so we decided to live in everyone's business there. The city rally was held on Tuesday night, after 9 to 5 business days, public transportation in my town was limited. This means that almost all of the rallies in our town are white middle class landlords. Most of them are children who do not have children, often older people. They decided on school budget. They decide who runs the town. They are landowners without the town's middle class town and are not people who can not work in town gatherings due to lack of work, children or traffic. Even if all members of my town can participate in such meetings, there will be no fair way to assign places and discussion times for them.
Many towns no longer use town gatherings. The reason is easy, not democratic, but maintains small (usually rich) profits. "In more modern times, the number of attendees at the New England Town Conference decreased due to the expansion of the city size ... their aim is to provide an open and fair forum for public opinion, but John Guthi pointed out that the conference is not as open as ever, but mainly consists of stakeholders and invited guests (source)
For these reasons and for other reasons, the town council was basically abandoned as a voting forum. We should keep their leadership and supplement the use of "current" votes to a minimum. The town gatherings - of course - are representatives of the people who care about the town. If you care about this town, you will be very excited about opening a large conference once a week on Tuesday night. But they also represent people who can earn time and money. It is not a person who has problems of working class, children, accessibility.
