In general, the political situation of the country is considered to be an important factor affecting the development of tourism. Stable political conditions are important requirements for visitors to visit and travel to the destination country (Hall & O'Sullivan, 1996). If the political situation is unstable, tourists will feel a negative image directly affecting the tourism industry. As Neumayer (2004) stated, tourists are sensitive to the negative image of tourist spots, violent cases affect tourist spots and may stabilize them long after the incident.

Tourism belongs to the Ministry of Tourism. The four parts are Sri Lanka Tourism Development Bureau (Sri Lanka Tourism Board established in 1966, founded in 1966), Sri Lanka Hotel Management Association, and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau. The Sri Lankan Tourism Development Bureau is responsible for all tourism development activities, but responsibility for all marketing and promotion is the responsibility of the Tourism Promotion Committee.

The tourism industry in Sri Lanka has been criticized for its benefits to the local economy, one of the major foreign currency income of that country. Several studies have shown that rapid modern tourism development can not meet the specific needs of locals. In addition, the high biodiversity of Sri Lanka seems to be threatened by the development of large tourism affecting several nature reserves. Several endangered species seem to be severely threatened by the rise of tourism in some areas; this is the case of rock frogs of Keerthisinghe's popular in Sri Lanka.

Civil war of this past 26 years clearly is not suitable for tourists. As a result, Sri Lankan beaches, cultural heritage, wildlife, and the beauty of nature have experienced decades of sightseeing. At the end of August this year, one million tourists this year were welcomed at the airport. The tourism industry of European and Middle Eastern people is rising steadily. In Sri Lanka, India is still the largest tourist, but the biggest increase in tourists this year is Chinese tourists, more than 100% more than the previous month.
