Please see your guide as your cruise ship is moored at the port of Tortola Road. Then they will help you take a taxi to the kayak store. Drive about 5 miles (8 km) east along the coastline and start your coastal tour along the eastern edge of the island. Please take a brief safety briefing session before leaping into the kayak for two people and depart from the lined bay of mangroves. Gently take the paddle and follow the guide to the center of the mangrove. These shallowly protected waters are nurseries of marine creatures in the Caribbean that live in coral reefs. Learn about the ecosystem and its habitat from the tour guide and investigate species such as starfish and sea cucumber in detail. Then we go through the ruins of the old fortress built in the rock. While looking at the ruins, please listen to the history of Tortola's colonial and pirate era from the 17th century to the mid 17th century. Check the old Quaker Cemetery under the fort to learn about the relationship with the architect who designs the US Capitol. Enjoy the soft drinks or other drinks offered when you are in the water, and use freshwater showers and changing rooms. Then return to the harbor where your coastal trip is over. Non-boat tour: I will definitely return to the road town port so that it will be in time for this activity. In rare cases where your ship departs, we will arrange transportation to the next port of call. Your ship will be delayed and if you can not participate in this event your payment will be refunded. For details, please see terms of service.
Tortola's ferry moves between Tortola and St. Thomas. In fact, there are several different ferry companies that serve between the two islands, and you can check the ferry schedule at any time between St. Thomas and Tortola. These ferries are transportation between the people of the British Virgin Islands and the people of the US Virgin Islands. The ferry connects the city of Charlotte Amalie of St. Thomas and the West End of Road Town or Tortola Island. Many travelers feel that it is easier to purchase two one-way tickets from different companies, not round-trip tickets for the same company. As ferries from another company keep coming and going, you should be able to ride a ferry at any time of the day. Usually, the company will be convenient when you arrive, but it is not convenient at departure. Please check the timeline to see if this happens, otherwise if you do not purchase a round-trip ticket to save money.
Flights to Tortola will arrive at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport. The airport is located in the beef island east of Tortola and is connected by Queen Elizabeth II Bridge. LIAT offers a timetable service at Antigua St. Kitts and a direct flight to southern Caribbean and Barbados. In San Juan, Seaborne Airlines, Cape Air, Air Sunshine is operating regular flights. Island Birds Air Charter connects San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua, or St Martin. BVI Airlines is scheduled to start jet service from Miami to Lettsome at the end of 2017, but it is not yet operational
With good trade and weather close to perfection, Tortola has become one of the most popular sailing destinations in the world. Every year, thousands of tourists cross the entire Virgin Islands from Tortola. Their level of experience ranges from pro to beginners (land lovers). Do not think that sailing is only suitable for high pressure. Many charter companies are offering low boats as low as $ 200 a day during the off season. Indeed, many people bring yachts to Tortola and place the entire holiday on board. These people often jump to several small neighboring islands to find the uninhabited islands where they can have their own beaches. Other people hit the sails and enjoy wonderful snorkeling and fishing. Since it has rich coral reefs, Anegada is a popular destination. In the evening, there is enough mooring equipment (anchor ball) in the larger bay.
