Some employers may prefer to certify Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), or equivalent. The Emergency Management Officer can obtain CEM certification through the International Emergency Management Association (IAEM); certification must be renewed every 5 years. Designation of CBCP is provided by the International Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) and must be renewed every two years.
