In Toms Escape from The Glass Menagerie, Tom Wingfield is probably playing the most important role. He is not only a protagonist of the drama, he is also a narrator. He was given a troublesome job of becoming a reasonable voice at Wingfield 's house. Almost all his moves reveal important details of his personality and motivation. Tom's personality can be broadly divided into two parts. In the first "given the truth ... with a happy disguise of fantasy" and with ambiguous details, the other side was frank and there was no misunderstanding.
Escape from fire, father's portrait, and movies are good examples of Tom's avoidance attitude in the drama "Glass Manager". It is because he always likes to sit next to him when he wants to escape. Because Tom wants to escape, his father's portrait is a good example. As Tom wants to travel around the world like his father, his father's portrait is a good example. The movie is most important as Tom goes to the movies every night to find adventure. Tennessee Williams succeeded in using various symbols to show that Tom hides the truth and likes to move away from reality.
The first symbol of the play was escape from Tom and Fire. This is Tom's escape from the real world. He thinks how bad thing about sitting smoking and hoping for a different life. Tom thinks about how to leave the family and how to live alone. He became a member of the Merchant Sailor Association and began his life. Tom left every night and when he returned home it escaped the fire and was just away from the "ugly old witch" ... (Williams 1723). Tom also goes to movies and bars to get rid of many problems in family life. He gets drunk to help his mother forget what he dislikes. He goes out almost every night to help him solve his family's burden. Tom's mother, Amanda, reminds me of how much he likes his father.
Scene 5 was held at a fire shelter where Tom and his mother discussed Tom 's invitation to meet Laura' s gentlemen caller. Amanda controls a drones reconnaissance machine that this person should not be holding. Tom told his mother to take care of his sister as he told his mother to pay attention to the pressure on his rollers. He continued to tell Amanda that she should not expect to live in too many disabled daughters in her own small glass ornaments and old music world. In Tom's mention of glass in this scene, glass was used to strengthen a very different and fragile reality of rollers. Amanda refuses to accept Tom's realistic roller analysis and continues to talk about her grand plan for the gentleman's visit.
