To what extent is the justice system fair and equitable for youth?

Together with partners, we will spend 5 minutes to outline what you think the goal of the Canadian justice system should be.

It is justice. ACA (2014) defines justice as "fostering individuals fairly and promote fairness and equality" (page 3). This report aims at experts involved in the juvenile justice system to understand the continued prejudice of LGBT adolescents, the relevance of sexual orientation and gender identity in the context of juvenile justice, and the experience of LGBT youth in the system will do so. Barriers to LGBT adolescents in a fair and reasonable manner; and protecting the rights of the LGBT youth and recommending specific practices and policy reforms to ensure that the system responds effectively to them

The child's rights, Lambda Legal, and the Social Policy Research Center 's 2017 report verify the extent to which state laws and policies guarantee fair treatment of LGBT Q youths in the juvenile justice system. - Each state has developed its own guidelines and procedures to deal with the LGBTQ youth problem because there are clear laws and policies in some states and county-based systems in other states. Only 21 states and the District of Columbia receive clear sexual orientation and indiscriminate protection of gender identity in the juvenile justice system.
