The definition of Renaissance was regeneration, which was what happened in Renaissance Europe. It began in the city of Italy, mainly in the city of Florence. Black death caused the population of Europe to be at a very low level, so that, along with the decline of the power of the church, people began to emphasize their personal accomplishments, more interest in ancient Greek and Roman cultures I showed it. The Italian city state is where the Renaissance began. The three major city states are Milan, Venice, and Florence.
However, as reform progresses, history (and other disciplines) is understood by itself. This development closely relates to humanism of the Renaissance. Humanism of the Renaissance highlighted the importance of classical Greek and Roman cultures as fully developed human beings and the highest value of education. Therefore, studying history and understanding history became a way to nurture people. Under the influence of humanism, the system of the university flourished, the history was understood in a more formal academic sense. Humanists such as Erasmus (famous philosophers, educators, and Catholic priests) are respected not only for their views on theology but also for the field of history and psychology.
Desiderius Erasmus (1466 - 1536) Erasmus is a Catholic priest and a famous scholar. He was an important person in the Renaissance and claimed religious tolerance. He was a Catholic in his life, but he wants to see the reform of the Church and his ideas affect Protestant reform and development. William Tyndale (1494 - 1536) was one of the first people who printed the Bible in English. Even if he is deemed illegal, he promises to translate the Bible into English. After avoiding prisoners for many years, he was executed with defamation. Ironically, after English Henry VIII was released from the Roman Catholic Church, his English Bible was accepted.
