It is controversial whether it can be freely chosen. People have broad ideas about our liberty. But the three main ideas about our liberty are determinism, uncertainty, and compatibility. The belief that all our choices are determined by the power beyond our control is called determinism. Decider thinks that each event is the result of the previous event. A determinist may agree that everything can go back to one of the causes, but they do not always agree on its cause.
