Threat of Endangerment: The Mountain Gorilla

Mountain gorilla was first discovered to roam around Virunga volcano in Rwanda (von Beringe, 2002, p. 9). On 17th October 1902, German captain Robert Von Beringer and his African soldiers met two mountain gorillas near the volcanic area (von Beringe, 2002, p. 9). Von Berringer captured and killed one of them and sent the dead to an animal museum in Berlin, Germany. Professor Paul March cooperating with the museum believes that Gorilla is a new class and was named after its founder (von Beringe, 2002, p. 10).

One of the main threats to the mountain gorilla of the Dian Fossey era was poaching, which is mainly a souvenir. It is cool to put the gorilla's hand on the ashtray or gorilla's head on the mantelpiece. The baby also poached. Fortunately, these are no longer a problem for the mountain gorilla - we stopped direct poaching. The biggest risk is that their habitat is very small.
