The book "This Boy's Life" by Tobias Wolff is a memoir of the authors' childhood memories and experiences. The author shows many different characters in the book. During his growth, his life's choice and thought had little impact on the author. However, there are people who act as the hero and opponents. One of them is Dwight, the hero or stepfather of Jack. This role seems to be one of the roles hindering Jack's selection and decision.

This boy 's life in Tobias Wolf and Jim Carroll' s basketball diary is a memoir of the same age, including rebellious teenage boys. Both Toby and Jim tried to find out who they are. Introducing into the new environment makes the boys uneasy and they begin showing destructive and violent behavior.
