Theresienstadt: Women's and Children's Lives in Terezin

In the northern 47 mile of Prague in Czechoslovakia there is a small town called Theresienstadt or Teresien. Terjin was built by the Austrian emperor Joseph II in 1780. It consists of a small fortress on one side of the river Ore and a large fortress on the other side. Telesin's small fortress became a prison for the military and political adversaries of the Habsburg dynasty in the early 19th century. 4 But the most tragic part of the telegene's history was after the Czech lands were occupied by Nazi Germany.

In 1941, the Nazis turned the historic fortified city Teljienstadt near Prague into a concentration camp. The document we have is a good example of their intention to establish a model camp in their advertisement. In fact, Telesin stopped on its way to the East's refugee camp through 140,000 prisoners, including 15,000 children living in a fire-filled hut. This is a problem. The threat to be forcibly repatriated to Auschwitz. At least 33,000 people died in Telesin. This movie tells the story of their father and their children, especially Helga Jinsky, who came to Telesyn at the age of 12. Helga Kinsky records her life very carefully at the camp. The diary began on January 17, 1943, was towed from his home in a small town in Moravia, then carried by train to Torresin, and ended on October 23, 1944. Ruth Bandy wrote that the decision that men did not face in Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 1944 is a decision that only mothers can face. Many women at Theresienstadt were lucky enough to live with children in the Auschwitz-Birkenau family camp but they knew they would be sent to the gas chamber by June 1944. Because Germans need work, they have a choice. A young child's mother can choose to be elected as a worker - or can be sent to the gas room with a child. Even after six months in Birkenau, there was no fantasy about saving children. They knew that the children were sent to the gas chamber. Only two out of about 600 young mothers appeared in the selection; all other children decided to leave the child until the end
