Western movies are the most important type of American film industry and reflect the early days of the spectacular wild American borders. They are one of the oldest, most popular and versatile genres, and one of the classical American genres derived from their myths. The popularity of Western movies has changed over time. Their most productive times were in the 1930s and 1960s, and in the 1990s they had a type of recovery recently. This primitive form of American art is concentrated in the western part of the North American border.

Along with the development of the film industry in the early 1920s Western movies have become a very popular type. These movies describe the cutting-edge living of cowboys, India, military and spectacular landscapes, and sometimes add appeal. Of course, an important element of frontier life, by default the Western movies are horses. Television is the ultimate broadcast medium that appeared in the 1950s, including various early programs featuring horses and Western culture. These shows include Lone Ranger (and Silver), which developed from radio media and produced the series of 1950's TV series "Magic Horse", and Ed of 1961 to 1966.

Films such as Western movies and war movies will be affected by specific regions and periods. This does not apply to science fiction movies. However, there are several general visual elements that can evoke this type. These include spacecraft or space stations, alien worlds or organisms, robots, and futuristic gadgets.
