When we talk about Vietnamese people, most people treat them as refugees for their history. Sucheg Chan's book, "Vietnamese American 5 Year War, Revolution, Flight, and New Beginning" is the history of Vietnam, the experiences and suffering of Vietnamese refugees crossing Vietnam on board and their settlement outside Vietnam . As refugees, the Vietnamese experienced many difficulties while escaping to other countries.
Whether it is Vietnamese or universal, the story of Thi Bui is a story every American reads to better understand the consequences of what the Vietnamese call "the American War". Today Vietnamese Americans live in the USA. I listen to their stories, learn from them, and work hard to remember that all immigrants have stories
This is my first time in my life, I saw my childhood on stage. I almost cried. Normally the story that tells Vietnamese Americans is focusing on immigrants and wars - refugee stories like my family - escaping from their homes and fishing boats and adapting to a whole new world. Do not get me wrong - these stories that I grew up are unforgettable. But they are not mine. They capture the essence of becoming a Vietnamese immigrant, not the essence of an American surrounded by hyphens, and the sense that one foot steps on one foot. To see Jason's cultural show is the story of the first Vietnamese American who I have ever seen.
Americans are Vietnamese (or Hoa) parents and American parents, most commonly white or black descendants. During the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1975, American personnel, mainly soldiers, were born in America as America 's first Americans. Many Americans are ignored by their American parents; in Vietnam, children without foreign male fathers are called liars ("Mixed Blood") or derogatory bụiđofi ("Life dust") Yes. Since 1982, Americans and their families have come to America with an orderly departure plan. Many people can not reunite with their fathers and usually arrive with their mothers. In some cases, they are a member of a fake family created to escape from Vietnam.
