The Veil: Marjane's Journey to Individuality

Veil is a garment intended to cover a specific part of the head, face or body features that may have a specific meaning. It has something to do with women and sacred objects. It not only hides people's appearance but also helps to kill people's personality. In Marjane Satrapi 's graphic novel "Persepolis", the main character Marjane lives in Iran, but because of the fear of punishment, she must wear a veil that shows only her face. Veil became an important symbol, and readers can see the long-term impact of veil against Satrapy throughout the novel.

Persepolis tells the childhood story of Marjan in the Islamic Revolution. The religious oppression of this country is very intense, but one aspect is to force a woman to wear a veil to cover her hair. In 1980 girls and women were asked to wear them, and later it became law. Marjane did not know what to think at the beginning, and her parents and the country had protested for a while.
