The Use of Production Codes in Motion Pictures

Creation of "production standards" or "haze standards" is intended to provide a sense of censorship in the United States. Former postmaster William Hays is responsible for overseeing the production of standards or haze standards. The Hays method was passed in March 1930, but it was not implemented until 1934, four years later. Hayes code is based on ethics at the time.
