The Use of Physical Restraint

When treating elderly patients, the use of physical restraint among caregivers of health facilities is very common. However, this topic is one of the most controversial issues in health care and medical care. The purpose of medical regulation is to prevent harm to the patient himself or to the surrounding people. For irregular patients who need treatment, this seems like a simple solution and a panacea. However, the moral meaning develops mainly on its use. Physical restrictions on people deprive themselves of autonomy and other psychological factors such as incitement and trauma.

There is considerable controversy over the use of physical restraint in behavioral therapy of people with learning disabilities (Stirling & McHugh 1997).
