The Use Of Irony In The Stone

In "Stone Boy", sarcasm is an important literary instrument in many stories, such as George Orwell's farm, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet's tragedy. In all these works, irony plays an important role in the story. In "Stone Boy", the title of the story is a sarcastic example. The title indicates to the reader that Arnold has no emotion like a stone. Ironically, Arnold respects Eugie more than anyone else. He just does not know how to express it.

Ironic is a contrast between what is expected to happen and what actually happens. Ironically, there are three types: dramatic sarcasm, situationful cynicism, and language sarcasm. The situation is closest to the definition of irony. Dramatic is when the reader knows more about the events in the story than the characters.
