The Understanding of Behavior and the Brain

Neurobiological and physiological predictions and trends that cause behavior and understanding brain behavior are not new. Many diseases and diseases are currently caused by biological mechanisms. In a recent article by Newsweek, people in the field of psychology and neuroscience comment on ways that began to emphasize the fact that certain brain mechanisms can explain mental illness and specific behavior. Doctors seem to be accusing patients' characteristics due to biological psychiatric diseases rather than treat patients as individual responses to the living environment (Begley 1998).

To understand addictive behavior, you have to understand the brain; pursuing this understanding is a challenge with great rewards. Subjectivity is necessary for analysis of human behavior, but the brain contains objective reality, but a comprehensive approach is necessary to understand this. Three general methodological problems are prominent in studies involving addiction assessment. (1) Reliability and effectiveness of biological methods used in self assessment, collateral, and assessment of substance use, variability and sporadic processes, (3) heterogeneity of individuals with substance use disorders. The history, interpretation, pathways, and addiction methods are complex and research within the scope of life psychology is necessary to promote understanding and treatment of all addiction.

Scientists examined neurobiology of addiction in detail to understand the influence of addiction on the brain. NIDA reports that addiction, especially substance dependence, can change the way the brain understands happiness and rewards, so that they can be classified as brain diseases. The drug interacts with chemical substances in the brain, especially dopamine, creating longer and stronger happiness and excitement than medicine user's brain can naturally produce.
