The Two Fridas

Two Fridas (Las dos Fridas in Spain) is a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. This painting is the first large-scale work of Carlo and is considered to be one of her most famous paintings. This is a double self-portrait depicting the two versions of Karo sitting together. One is wearing a white European style Victorian dress and the other is wearing a traditional Tewana dress. This picture was made in 1939. In the same year, Karo divorced Diego Rivera even if they marry after a year.

Several art historians believe that the two figures in this picture represent Frida's double legacy. Her father Guillermo Caro is German. Her mother, Matilde Calderon, is Mestizo (a mixture of Hispanic and Native American). Another explanation is that Tewana Frieda is a man worshiped by her husband Diego Rivera and Europe Frieda is a person rejected by him. In memory of Frida herself, image is a memory of a friend in the imagination of childhood.

Fridas thinks of two items on his knee, Mexico Frida has a small portrait of Diego Rivera, Frida Europe holds tweezers. Karo's friend Fernando Gamboa says that this painting is a painting of two paintings Karo saw in the Louvre museum, two sisters of Theodor Chasse Rio, and anonymous Gabriel Destre and one of her sisters at the beginning of the year I was inspired.

Behind them, blue and gray skies were drawn on the wall. Frida was wearing Indian customs (Tewana skirt) and a shirt. The shirt is blue with gold trim and the skirt is green with white train. This Frida has a small portrait of a man. At first glance, a small portrait looks like a pin or a big button until people carefully view it. Another Frida is wearing a flower embroidery white European long dress at the end of the skirt.
