Toni Morrison Association was established on May 28, 1993 at the annual meeting of the American Literary Association in Baltimore, Maryland. After the establishment of the Tony Morrison Association, it became an active member of the Association of Writers Association formed by the American Literary Society. The mission of the Association is "to start, sponsor and encourage important dialogue, academic publications, conferences, and projects devoted to Tony Morrison's work research."
