The three stories I decided to study are the new snowshoes by Doris Lessing, Superman and Paula Browns, and the chemistry of Grahamswift. In these three stories, writers explore complex family relationships. Selecting three stories, the writer presents a difficult relationship between families and contrasts them. The three stories I decided to study are "Flight" by Doris Lessing, "Superman and Paula Browns New Snowsuit" by Sylvia Plath, and "Chemistry" by Graham Swift.
Comparing the two short stories of the character's dilemma, we are comparing Doris Lessing's story "Flying" with Michelle Roberts's "Your Shoes". They all deal with the problem of leaving their own daughter and how it affects the whole family. Grandpa is most affected by "flight", but in "your shoes" it is a mother. "Your shoes" are written in the story of the first person from the mother's point of view. "Flight" is written to a third party. The theme of the story is growing, letting go / moving.
How many are your favorite things? In Doris Lessing's story 'Flight', I see how grandpa loves my granddaughter and he does not want to give her to other people. My grandfather must learn to give up his granddaughter. Alice, granddaughter fell in love with postmaster boys Stephen. My grandfather was angry because she was a special person for him. In order to make his granddaughter happy, he must overcome this bitterness of his mind. Love is one of the strongest emotions that normally exists after everything else has disappeared.
African Story (1964) is not only important, it includes 30 stories about Lessing's setting in Africa, but also includes a preface of that brief author detailing the philosophy of creating Lessing's short story. In "Doris Lessing: Critical Studies" (1974), Lynn Suckenick is analyzing the consciousness of "distinction between emotion and sensitivity and significance to that woman". In the preface of the story of Africa, Lessing expressed recognition of intellectual / emotional disagreement between men and women.
