The Theory of Knowledge

"What today is accepted as knowledge can be abandoned tomorrow." What is knowledge? Knowledge can be defined as a theoretical or practical understanding of the subjects that people acquire through experience and education. According to the knowledge theory textbooks provided by the IB Diploma there are seven official cognitive styles such as language, reason, perception, emotion, memory, imagination, and intuition. These fields are contradictory to the subjectivity they bring, as they may be affected by prejudice and influential personal awareness, taste and opinion.

According to the knowledge theory guide issued on behalf of the International Baccalauré Organization (IBO), the purpose of the Knowledge Theory Course is to encourage students to "consider the nature of knowledge and ponder all learning processes". They study subjects and connect with them as part of the diploma program. "Knowledge theory courses, creativity, behavior, services (CAS), and extended papers form the three core elements of the IB curriculum and require IB diplomas:" Educate everyone "

At the center of the IB Diploma is the Knowledge Theory (ToK) course. It is a central element of IB research and summarizes the main knowledge students learn in various subjects. The ToK course "encourages critically thinking about knowledge itself and attempts to help young people understand the problems they encounter" (ToK Discipline Guide). For each subject, it is important to know what kind of knowledge and how to master it. In this sense, ToK is an adhesive that connects various scholarly elements of the IB Diploma. Knowledge theory (TOK) In this course, we introduce the theory of knowledge essence and limit theory (basic recognition theory) to students and provide practical practice to decide the meaning and validity (critical thinking) of knowledge. It is said to be a "flagship element" of a diploma, which is a course that all candidates for diploma must attend. TOK will receive 100 hours of instruction and complete an external evaluation form of 1600 words (67% from six headings specified by IB) and an internal evaluation of the topic chosen by the candidate (value 33%).
