The Study of Postcolonial Feminist Mahasweta Devi

The study of the short story "Drupadi, breast donor, body behind" of Mahashweta Devi, a feminist after the contemporary colonial period, clearly expresses the class and sex aspect. It highlights the fact that the society in which Mahatheta operates seems to be divided into two categories. It seems that it is not free in an independent country, but women have become a low ranking woman who controls. Her pain is often ignored and in the end she is integrated into the latter and will never claim her rights and dignity.

Mahasweta Devi was born in Dhaka, East Bengal in 1926. Born in a literary family Mahathweta Devi was also influenced by the early contacts with Gananatya who tried to bring social and political dramas into the countryside of Bangladesh during the 1930s and 1940s. After acquiring a master's degree in English literature from the University of Calcutta, Devi began as a teacher and journalist. Her first book, Jhansi Rani (Queen Jhansi), was published in 1956. In 1984, she retired an English lecturer at the University of Calcutta and devoted himself to writing. Devi has won several literary awards. She received the highest literary award Jnanpath in India in 1995

According to Divakaruni, she is strongly influenced by Indian feminist writer Mahatheta Devi. Mahasweta wrote an article about the problem of women long ago, and these problems were extremely dangerous. Not only that, many women with different traditions are also affected. At the beginning of Chitra's writing career she did not have the confidence that her subject will be interested for everyone. So after reading Maxine Hong Kigston's "Women Warrior" she found a new stream. The poet Adrian Rich, V. S Naipaul, Anita Desai, Erdrich are also part of her inspiration. She started writing with various women's questions. She studied Oriental and Western literature; she also likes to combine both in writing. She feels this is a way to enrich the two traditions. Many feminist ideas of Virginia Wolfe also convinced her. She likes women of all backgrounds very much.
