The Strength and the Struggle: The Builders

Jacob Lawrence has made African-American families several subjects of his art, but they use these themes to convey complex information about families and society. "Builder" shows confidence and a good family, and "This is the family living in Harlem" represents the family living in austerity and depression. Both pictures feature families, but these pictures evoke different moods. "Construction workers" are characterized by construction workers, but the center of painting is the family walking.

As technology rebuilds every aspect of our world, people are becoming builders. Builders are entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, but because they are still part of a company or freelancer, they are also people who change living and working styles.
