The Spanish Inquisition: To Maintain Ethnic Purity or Merely Religious Orthodoxy?

Racial discrimination regards race as the main determinant of human identity and racial discrimination creates a specific race 's inherent or natural superiority to other races. Racism is a more modern term, but the prejudice behind it is part of the history from the beginning. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spain established one of the most studied investigations in history. The Spanish Inquisition contains some of the darkest days in the history of the Jews, including some of the most embarrassing chapters of Christianity.

The story of the Inquisition in Spain is long and complicated. However, the first region censored in the 12th century was France. A more notorious version of these religious investigations on latent heathens and apostates started in Spain in the late 15th century and did not really disappear until the 19th century. The French Revolution (started in 1789) caused real concern in Spain. King Charles IV worried that his people would consider not only the wealth and power of the monarchy but also the wealth and power of the church. With that in mind, he took steps to prepare the wings of the Spanish Inquisition. Several single Catholic organizations hated the ideal of revolutionary French enlightenment Napoleon (and others) repeatedly destroyed the ancient 'sacred cow' in the name of modernity.
