The Aztec empire peaked under the rule of the Moctezuma emperor in the early 16th century. Hundreds of Spanish adventurers also flowed into the West Indies after Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas in 1492.
The first contact with Mexico occurred in 1517 when the explorer Francisco Hernandez Cordoba landed on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Then the expedition by Juan de Grijalva confirmed the land demoted by the powerful people despised by those who were forced to pay respect to them.
Spain's Cuban governor, Diego Velázquez, subsequently dispatched an army led by Helnan Cortés and ordered trade with the inhabitants. However, Cortez has an ambitious plan to land on the coast of Veracruz in 1521, and today we will head to Tenectile, the site of Templo Mayor in the center of Mexico City, the center of the Aztec era. The problem started when Cortez had to leave the town to meet the Spanish army sent by Velázquez to arrest him. When he returned, Aztecs were trying to expel Spaniards. Cortes told Moltzma to withdraw beyond the roof of the palace, but the chieftain of Aztec was given a series of stones that hurt him. A few days later he died and the Aztecs kept fighting the intruders under the guidance of the warlike leader Cuitláhuac.
One night, the Spaniard tried escape known as Nostryste (dark night): when they were discovered quietly along the way leading to the city, then a fierce battle involving Cortes took place I lost a lot of his people. Cortes then took refuge with his Tlaxcalteca ally. In June 1521, Cortes used a boat at the lake, in collaboration with thousands of local Indian allies, began the last attack on Tenoktiton.
In August of that year, he occupied the city and became a prisoner of the new Aztec leader Cua uhtémoc. Cuitláhuac died of outbreaks of smallpox, resulting in a significant decline in locals
