It is a sin. The word itself is synonymous with evil, shame, and many other negative meanings. Everyone is guilty. Nonetheless, everyone treats their sins by themselves. Whether they mock their shame or they acknowledge their unethical behavior. Which is more desirable than either. Author Nathaniel Hawthorne answers some of the deep questions of Scarlet Letter's life. Throughout the life events of the characters of Roger Chillingworth, Arthur Dimmesdale, Hester Prynn, Hawthorne conveyed his view that confession and repentance is better than concealing sins.
"Red Letter" reveals moral and social values related to social discrimination against women through alienation of Hester Prynne, the main character of "Red Letter". In the "red letter", Hester was punished for an affair relationship with Pastor Din Mesdale, and a child named Pearl was born. For adultery, the social authority of Puritan she lived was accused of wearing a red letter on her chest. In the first few years of Hester 's punishment, the letter reminded people of shame everyday. In Chapter 5, Hawthorne writes: "...
