In the book "The Skin of Life" by Yann Martel, the concept of the boundary between savage and mankind has been abandoned abundantly. In Pi's life and death situation, barbaric thinking is somewhat blurred by despair of survival. There are several actions in the story, and those who are not in Pi may be regarded as barbarians.
