Prior to 1902, there were a lot of stables including horses and coaches in the oval shaped office, cabinet room, rose garden today. When Roosevelt was renovated in 1902, First Lady Edith Roosevelt insisted on a suitable colonial garden to help replace the house of the greenhouse rose that once existed here.
