The Roles of Women During the 1800´s

The role of women in the 1800s and their treatment are depicted throughout a small woman and it shows how the hero is handling these integration standards. Through these four sisters, Alcott depicts various ways to become women in the expectation of the 19th century. The two met, but the other two tried to oppose the standard. Alcott does not mean one way is better than other currencies, but it shows that one way is more realistic than the other.

Women's rights activists have influenced the country, regarded women as equivalent to men, changed the social role of traditional women. In the 1800's, her husband had legal power to his wife. In a sense, he owns her so women have little respect for their culture. However, as women pursue equal rights, many men begin women equally. It paid great respect for their culture. An example of social change as a result of women's rights movement is that Lucy Stone had her maiden name even after she got married. Fifty years before the women's rights movement began, such small incidents were never allowed by the community. As women struggled for the rights of women in the 1800s, the social roles of slow women began to change.

Furthermore, women are considered to be inequality with men's counterparts both legally and socially. However, the efforts of women in the 1800s effectively challenged traditional knowledge on women's position in society, social, economic and political attitudes in society.
