The Role of Wiglaf in Beowulf

He immediately took over control: he gave a strict lecture about their failure to the widow (ll. 2864 - 91) and ordered the messenger to bring the news to the camp (l. 2892). According to his order, his rules seem to be undoubtedly accepted. When he ordered the soldiers who had their hall under Beowulf to carry trees to the mountain of funeral, they did it (ll. 3110 - 14 a). This not only indicates that Beowulf is the beloved leader, it also shows that Wiglaf's succession to the throne was accepted by his colleagues.
