Summary Educators in Tanzania recognize the need to integrate education more clearly with economic development as we believe that the driving force behind social service development will help to revitalize the economy. Disadvantages of the educational system that must help to achieve this goal are obvious. They realized that the "self-reliance education" policy will change the national economy very little and will have little impact on the creation of "new" socialists. Teachers, students and guardians do not have the attitude necessary to promote cooperation and service, and most students do not have the necessary knowledge and skills to prosper in the economy.
