The Role of Beatrice Portinari in Dante The Divine Comedy

Beatrice Portinari is reading a book called "Dante The Divine Comedy". She first met Dante at Mayde in Florence, Italy in 1274. Beatrice came from a wealthy Florentine family who was 8 years old when they first met and did not say a word to each other (Cotter, 21). She is the main inspiration source of Dante's La Vita Nuova, a book about Dante's love relationship with her (the way to the past). Dante and Beatrice saw it only twice, but Dante was very moved by both meetings, and he shared his love for Beatrice with readers.
