In the summer of 1922, Nick Callaway shared a very strange relationship with Jordan Baker. Nick, the narrator of this novel, began to express emotions to Jordan. Jordan is a cousin 's old friend. When Nick visited her cousin Daisy and her husband Tom Buchanan, they first met with Don Egg and Nick joined the university. Jordan sitting on the sofa seemed to ignore Nick's entrance. The relationship between the two people began to last long and seems to keep this way through the novel.

Cleo Cloman has been detained for more than 20 years for murder. He grew up with two parent families and dreamed of playing professional baseball.
