The Result of Sin

Sin is "misconduct of moral norms chosen by society and criminals". Sin is one of the themes of Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Red Letter". The Puritan society where Hester Prynne resides does not accept people who deny compliance with the principle of urban ethics. Throughout the novel, three main characters, Hester Prynne, Arthur Ding Mesdale and Roger Chillings are involved. By definition, adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married and someone other than his or her legal spouse.

Pearl is an iconic character of Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel The Scarlet Letter. Pearls are the result of their secret sins, daughters of Hester Prynne and Arthur Ding Mesdale.
